Scout Road Academy by Year 5/6
This is a report about Scout Road Academy. Scout Road is a primary academy located at Scout End in the semi-rural village of Mytholmroyd, located in the Calder Valley.
The school was built in Victorian times. The boys and girls used to have different entrances. The boys used to do woodwork and the girls did knitting. The school was a board school, run by local people. It still is run by a Board of Governors.
School starts at 8:30am and ends at 3:00pm and our head teacher is called Mrs Stamp. We have 3 playtimes We have 4 classes: Reception, Year 1/2, Year 3/4 and 5/6. We all have our own class room.
We have a school council; if someone doesn’t like what’s happening or has an idea about the school then the class representatives will go tell the head teacher at a council meeting and then they will sort it out.
The schools lessons include: Literacy, PE, RE, science, maths creativity and reading. In the class of year 5/6 the pupils get a roll of the dice on Homeworkopoly if you bring your homework in on time. In KS2 we start getting to do fun projects based on the topic we are learning about instead of normal homework; but we still get normal homework sometimes.
All through the year pupils get to join in with the fun events such as: Christmas shop, the summer production, and Christmas party and movie night. All of the pupils enjoy these events and they take place every year.
For dinner you can choose to bring in a packed lunch or have school dinner. Most people like school dinners, and on Fridays we have the best dinners. Our food hygiene rating is five and school dinners are always nice. How it works is Reception go first then Year 1/2 and either 3/4 or 5/6 next. At Christmas we have a Christmas dinner with mixed flavoured ice cream.
Scout Road is a happy and fun place to be. Our motto is ‘Roots to grow Wings to fly ‘ which means the school gives you roots to grow better and wings to fly off into your future.
