Children have a pink homework diary which should be kept in their school bags and brought to school every day.
The core skills sheets are a guide to work which can be done at home. Basic skills such as telling the time, using money and times tables are really useful skills to learn at home. Look at your child's previous year core skills sheets - they should be able to do all of these in order to apply in the following year group's learning.
The children have a separate book for their writing (yellow), which needs to be handed in every Wednesday. Homework will be marked and a new task put in their book. Children need to focus on applying their set targets to their writing.
Maths homework is due in on Wednesday mornings.
We have a weekly spelling test on Wednesdays. Your child will be given their spelling list (in their pink homework diary) one week before the test.
Children are encouraged to read for approx 20 minutes per day. Books aren't sent from school as most children of this age prefer to read their own books. If your child doesn't read at home it is really important that you speak to me as soon as possible. There are very strong links between a child's ability to write and spell with a child who reads regularly in their spare time.
