Governance
School governors have a varied and important role. The governor role is strategic rather than operational. Governors don’t get involved with the day to day running of a school, instead they support and challenge the school’s leadership team to drive school improvement.
The Local Governing Committee (LGC) consists of up to eleven governors: parent governors, staff governors, co-opted governor, and the Principal. We meet a minimum of six times per year. Our term of office is four years. A schedule of our meetings, and copies of our meeting minutes, are available on our website. The LGC forms a link between the Academy and the Trust Board, holding both to account. Governors' responsibilities are outlined in the Trust's Scheme of Delegation. In summary, they are to ensure excellence in the curriculum; pupil and staff welfare and well-being; stakeholder engagement and feedback; health and safety; and safeguarding. We do this by regularly visiting the Academy, attending training, and monitoring and evaluating the Academy's development plans and performance. We are committed to delivering the Academy and Trusts vision and values, and helping the Academy to be the best that it can be.
