Homework

In Year 5 and 6 homework is given out on Friday . It is expected in on Thursday to be marked. Children have time in the week to ask if they get stuck.

The homework each week will consist of a piece of English (writing) and a piece of Maths. These are tasks that pupils should be able to complete on their own. Maths is always based on prior learning , never new learning.

Pupils have spellings to practice but their is no test. Pupils practice their spellings on "Edshed". The log on details are stuck inside the child's reading record book.

I check that pupil's have read to parents on Wednesdays and Fridays. Pupils should have signed reading record books in school on these days.

Children are encouraged to read for approx 20 minutes per day.  If your child doesn't read at home it is really important that you speak to me as soon as possible. There are very strong links between a child's ability to write and spell with a child who reads regularly in their spare time.
